minor adventure part 2

The pick up was used as a builders truck up to me buying it for £25. I needed a vehicle of any type because if you drive on the Scunthorpe steelworks with a good car its going to get a very short life as the muck on the road has something in it that rots the body. As the chassis on the Morris had more plates welded on it than any good cafe, I thought why not make a new chassis. This I did. This is the bit I got carried away with,I did not like the front suspension or steering of Morris so Triumph Herald got that job. The engine well a 3ltr V6 Ford Essex engine and gearbox got that bit all finished off with a Jaguar XJ6 back axle. I have just created a true English mongrel. Working in the central engineering workshop stockyard at the steelworks I had the whole job sorted dinner breaks tea breaks or anyone without a job and willing to help was always kept busy. I would like to thank everybody who helped, all those years ago including security who stopped asking why do you carry a chassis on the roof of your car every day. will post pictures of rolling chassis and try to blog soon.

This is how it all started back in 1982. I cant believe how a £25 banger to drive to work has been a part of my life. It is now January of 2008 and if you follow my blog you will see how it has all turned out. From a £25 banger to my vehicle that has just been insured for £8000. It may be slow coming the whole story as I am new to this but if you have the patience I will explain it all. From the time I was going to drive it down to the scrap yard when the MOT run out to racing it at York Dragway. I have photos from start to finish. When my story of building it, racing it to showing it has finished I will then tell you about the total rebuild again last year and then I hope to tell you as the year goes on what we are doing.
